Having proven such a success for the past two years, in coincidence with their third birthday The Catfish is dealing up another Poker Pub Crawl – and this time they're teaming up with four local brewers to create four birthday collaboration beers to assist in the enjoyment:
- Cavalier – Double Life Double IPA
- BrewCult – One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Brew Fish Red Ale
- Forrest – Melbourne's Better Hoppy Aussie Lager
- Bridge Road – Saison D'etre Passionfruit Saison
The way the poker pub crawl works is as follows:
- You don't need to know how to play actual poker in order to get involved
- Entry is free – all you need is a team (3–6 people, ideally)
- Get yourself to The Catfish before 2pm, register with the staff and at least one person in the group has to buy one pot of beer
- Take a photo of said beer, post it on social media with the #Catfishturns3 hashtag, show the bar staff and you'll get given a random playing card
- You then have until 8pm to visit four other friendly bars in the neighbourhood – The Gertrude Hotel, The Rooks Return, Beer Mash Cellar and The Rainbow Hotel – to do it all over again: buy one of the birthday beers, post a pic, collect a card
- Once you've visited all the venues, head back to The Catfish with your five card poker hand and if you've gathered the best hand, you win!
As well as getting yourself out and about at some top bars, there'll evidently be a lot of prizes on offer - think beer, shirts, merch, etc – so why not make a day of it.
