Over its more than ten year history, Hargreaves Hill has made plenty of special beers. None, however, has the certain special something contained within their Phoenix Imperial Red Ale, a beer born from the ashes of the Black Saturday fires of 2009 which burned their original brewery to the ground. Every year since it has been a widely anticipated annual release, though it is typically very limited in quantity and, beyond some of the elegant bottles, is seldom seen outside of Melbourne.
All of which will make the evening of January 31 a special one at Hart's Pub as they host a Hargreaves Hill Tap Takeover, including the only keg of 2016 Phoenix you'll find in NSW this year. That will be supplemented with several other very fine and more recent additions to the range of the Yarra Glen brewer:
- Phoenix Imperial Red Ale
- Abbey Dubbel
- Barrique Bruin
- Barrique Fermente
- Maibock
- Tripel
- Zenith IPA
Founder and owner Simon Walkenhorst will be in attendance on the night to shout some beers and there'll be a few beer-matched canapés too. Things kick off in earnest form about 5pm.
