For the past year or so, the Woodlands Hotel in Coburg has been hosting semi-regular and regularly sold out beer dinners. They're called Welcome To The Woods and they encourage you to take their hand as they explore beer and food matching with some of the country's more interesting beers and brewers.
Their first event for 2017 will be with Footscray's Hop Nation who will, over five courses and accompanying beers, be sharing their story of ditching careers in winemaking to become brewers, the perks and otherwise of contract brewing, the international market for secondhand brewing equipment, the struggle to find the perfect home and the eventual joy of opening a brewery of their own.
With dining being done at communal tables, you'll get to make some new friends while enjoying plenty of delicious food and drink and learning plenty about beer, brewing and anything else you care to ask about.
Tickets are $70 and can be purchased here. The first course will be served at 7pm and they hope to have you all fed and watered by 10pm.
