Boston Brewing's head brewer Reid Stratton has settled into a groove since arriving in the Great Southern region. His latest creative limited release is an oat cream IPA laden with peach and mango, pouring a hazy but candescent orange with bright notes of the aforementioned fruits flowing from the glass.
Typically big on flavour, this iteration of the style leans true to form on tasting, too. Sweet mango nectar and ripened, fleshy stone fruit are persistent against a medium bitterness and lactose sweetness. A medium body carries fruit character comfortably along with sticky pine, passionfruit and white grapefruit, all lingering well after each sip.
This fruited oat cream manages to maintain balance too; for a style that can easily veer into the realms of OTT, here the sweetening lactose, fruit, malt and hops all work together equitably.
