Bonehead Brewing aren’t the sorts to let any moment on the calendar pass them by here serve up two releases celebrating equally important milestones. First is Hefeweizen, a beer brewed for the Kensington brewery’s Oktoberfest celebrations complete with can art featuring a hand-drawn illustration by one of the brewery's many lovely locals. The wheat beer is a true classic: pouring with a pale golden haze as notes of clove and banana immediately leap from a smooth and textural beer that’ll transport you straight to Germany (not literally, I'm afraid. Air travel is costly right now).
Grape & Grain haven't been around quite as long Oktoberfest but, for Melburnian beer lovers at least, their birthday could be considered just as sacral. They’ve been serving beer to the good people of the southeast for more than a decade; to celebrate their 11th birthday, Bonehead invited them in to brew The West Coast Pop.
This West Coast IPA is all about Mosaic and Citra which give off a dazzling array of pine, grapefruit, a floral freshness and a bitter finish. Forget about going to Bavaria: Moorabbin is beer’s true heartland.
