With two quite different IPAs, Bonehead Brewing have embraced the coldest time of year and aimed to swat it away. We Are Laughing is a Mahogony IPA that’s rolled in the nostalgia of Anchorman but rather than smelling of leather-bound books, the "kind of a big deal" IPA instead gives resin and pine. Sure, Bonehead might have missed a faithful reenactment in the aroma but they’ve certainly nailed the colour, with its reddish-brown appearance looking like the exact mahogany they’d mix you at Bunnings. But here, the mix is Vic Secret, Mosaic and Strata hops, which alongside a whole lot of pine, provide stone fruit flavours and an earthiness as a rich dose of caramel and toffee provides a warming treat for a cold night.
Tropical Escape, on the other hand, aims to transport you away from winter with some of the newer hops, Superdelic and Ahhhroma - which might also be the most fun varieties to say aloud. The first of those hails from New Zealand, while the latter is out of the States and together they bring mango, berry and pineapple juice to a lush and soft beer with a gentle sweetness.
