Now here's something you don't see every day: not just a Belgian dubbel but one flavoured with chocolate and strawberries too. It's a beer that sees Koroit-based Noodledoof once again dipping into the local produce on their doorstep, including strawberries grown in the volcanic soils of Tower Hill, the crater-turned-wildlife reserve a few kilometres from their brewpub. Plus there's Amber Belgian Candi Syrup of the sort found in the Northern European classics that inspired Dubbel-Dipped.
You can expect to pick up chocolate and berry flavours in a dubbel – even without adding them, and here you've got a drink that comes across like a winter dessert laced with stewed fruits, chocolate, nougat and a dash of brandy. There's something reminiscent of five spice in the mix too, especially in the beer's dry finish. In short: plenty to get stuck into.
