It should surprise nobody that a beer named Double Juicy might be widely popular in the current craft world and that, having found plenty of fans with the first release in 2020, Bad Shepherd are back at the hop well for 2021. This time around, the hazy DIPA doesn’t just have a striking new look but comes with some recipe tweaks, using Meridian and Sequoia hops as the source of its juicy flavours.
The resulting beer is one that hits heavily with a one-two of mango and citrus, with the latter of those bringing a touch of tartness and zest like fresh mandarin squeezed into a glass. On top of that, there’s quite a biting bitterness for a hazy too, which holds on with each sip; but, with such a soft mouthfeel, it's still closer to a modern juicy than any kind of throwback.
