Goodbye, Rupee Twosday
Who could hang a name on you?
Well, someone certainly could when it comes to a collaborative pastry stout by Melbourne's Two Rupees. That someone was one of Bo Gurk’s regulars, who - and this is just a guess - sounds like they might be a fan of a little-known English rock band called The Rolling Stones. Given both the brewery and the bar tend to be both laid back and particularly community-minded we shouldn't be surprised to see the two outfits collaborated or that they were keen to hand over the naming rights to a beer to the crowd.
As for the beer, it’s a coconut, cherry and vanilla imperial stout, which brings lashings of dark chocolate, cacao, rich, stewed cherry and coconut on the finish. At first, it brings to mind Black Forest cake but given the fact a quick Google suggests such cakes don’t normally contain coconut, you’re better off thinking of Goodbye Rupee Twosday as Black Forest and a lamington brought together into one tin.
Despite the name, the beer is launching on Saturday, July 16 at Bo Gurks' home at 244 Nepean Highway, Edithvale.
