Noosa Beer is a beer for when you’re playing lawn bowls or watching the cricket on telly. Singlet, ruggers and pluggers optional.
This easy drinking lager has a life of its own with branding and a website full of old photos and a retro newspaper aesthetic. The brewery’s idea is to call to mind 1970s Australia and its ‘Simpler times, simpler taste.’ (Though the mascot - a koala holding a beer and wearing slip-ons - looks like he’d be mates with Sid the Seagull from the Slip Slop Slap ads in the 80s and 90s.)
The beer itself is styled after the Aussie draught beers of the 1970s with a slight modern twist. To those who care, it’s still made with a crafty touch - Voyager malts and Ella hops, and patiently lagered with love - but it also has a dose of Tetra hops to capture something of the bitterness people associate with the big boy lagers they’re familiar with.
