Blackman's Brewery Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (2023)

There are precisely zero beaches in Kentucky and a whole bunch of them on Victoria’s Surf Coast, including some particularly famous ones. So where would you rather live? Sure, you could argue that at least Kentucky is filled with bourbon but Blackman’s Brewery have a solution to that problem too.

Their Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout has returned in 2023 for the second year running and was aged in both Markers Mark and Knob Creek barrels out of Kentucky. It’s a dark and brooding beer that’s heavy on dark spirit notes and warming booze with a consistency that’s smooth and so viscous it can’t be too many shades from being a solid. On top of that, there’s stick molasses flavours, vanilla and an oakiness that adds a red wine-like quality.
