As summer approaches, the team at Cornella Brewery shifts its focus to producing refreshing, easy-drinking beers. As such, Astro Dude signals the last of the brewery's bigger, hop-laden releases for the year. Pale amber with a slight haze, the beer's frothy, slowly dissipating white head leaves beautiful lacing on the glass. A dependable blend of Australian-American hops – Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic – infuses the brew with hints of citrus and pine, accompanied by a moderate bitterness and crisp finish.
The packaging features Cornella's now familiar Hop Dude mascot surfing a gridded, synthwave-inspired beach beneath a starry night sky. The musical genre, characterised by vibrant electronic melodies and beats contrasted with ethereal, mellow tunes, seems apt for a beer that exemplifies the bold traits of the West Coast IPA style whilst delivering a gentler, more approachable rendition.
So, crack open a can, put on some Pertubator, and immerse yourself in a session of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
