Bright Brewery has headed in two very different directions with two springtime lagers. On the one hand, there's Bierfest Festbier, which I'm pretty sure just means Beer Festival Festival Beer and is an ode to stein season and Bright Brewery’s own Oktoberfest. Made with Tettnang, Perle, and Styrian Golding hops, it pours crystal clear with a slight golden hue thanks to the addition of Vienna malt. Drink it from a stein (or any other style of glass), and you’ll find a lager that’s as moreish as they come, thanks to floral, bready, and dry biscuit aromas and flavours.
Sure, you might find a few other Oktoberfest beers this year, but we feel like Esta Oscuro is a springtime release that follows a road less travelled. OK, local cervezas are easy enough to find, but what about a darker spin on such a style? What I can say for certain is that once again, Bright has outdone themselves with the name, which simply means "It's dark." But while it is dark, it remains quite a light and easy-going affair when it comes to drinking, with a lean, easy-going character and a soft, rich side akin to dark chocolate. Pair it with those fancy blue corn chips and some mole, and you have a true party on your hands.
