Street Ale arrives in Whitelakes' core range as they retire the maltier mid-strength Standard. The refresh reveals a nimble sipper that’s ready for a long western summer, and one which was the last beer designed by longstanding brewery 2IC Dennis Langley who, like the Standard, is also retiring.
Street Ale’s light yet generous biscuity caramel malt base carries mellow apricot and peach, with melon and green papaya also featuring. And while this could be ponderous in other hands, here is a beer for drinking, a point driven home as the finish whips clean, dry and bitter.
It's a snappy riposte at a moderate ABV realm swollen – at time of writing, at least – with hazy mids, and another example of Whitelakes’ clarity in a world of haze.
