This American red ale loaded up with a fair whack of rye malt has been around since the earliest days of Fortitude / Noisy Minor and returns in big can format summer 2018/19 as part of the "Box Of Noisies" put together by the brewery team, alongside ANZUS IPA and Swooping Saison.
It's a beer in which plenty has been squeezed into a pretty small package – Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe and Amarillo hops, specialty malts and the house blend Belgian yeast complete the picture. And, for all that the hops are there to offer some fruity aromatics and the rye and yeast combine to add a little spicy dryness, it's as much a display of malt as anything else. There's a rich, toasted character reminiscent of a traditional amber or English red ale, while the caramel and toffee characters interact with the hops to create a red berry side to things in a beer that's well suited to a little boilermaker pairing too.
