If the brewing company name wasn't enough, or if you hadn't spent time in the breezy company of Your Mates founders Matt Hepburn and Christian MacGarry, the approach they've taken to their beers should make it clear this Sunshine Coast crew is all about embracing laid-back Aussie good time vibes. Hence Larry, their first release and flagship beer. complete with "summer-lovin’, party-shirt wearin’" namesake on the tinnies.
It's a pale ale that sits very much in the easy-drinking category, golden and with a fluffy white head that serves up a little bit of lemony citrus, a little bit of tropical fruit, a flicker of something herbal, a wee bit of sherbet sweetness and a tickle of bitterness – but not too much of any of them. There's enough there for crafties to roll around their palates but not enough to distract you if all you're after is sinking a few by the coast at the end of another warm day.
It's become hugely successful for them too, landing in the top five of the 2019 and 2020 Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers polls.
