Beerland have gone large with this limited release. Brewer Andrew aptly named it Fresh as Kittens because kittens are always bright-eyed and ready to pounce on you at any moment (he also likes cats, but that's less relevant to the beer). The beer itself is a double NEIPA is bursting with fresh orange, pineapple and nectarine thanks to a generous dry-hopping regime featuring Azacca, Galaxy, Vic Secret and Citra. So where does the kitty come in? Well, at 8 percent ABV, it's to sneak up on you and give you a fright if you're not prepared.
Aiding this beer's entry into NEIPA territory are the additions of rolled oats, torrified wheat and 25 litres of lactose, which combine to give the beer a silky-smooth mouthfeel. In launching it at one of the brewery's Beer Clubs, Andrew described Fresh as Kittens as “dangerously drinkable, boozy breakfast juice” and it's a fitting description of the beer as this is one kitten eager to play with your taste buds.
