Stomping Ground continue to keep busy with their tinnie releases through Lockdown II, with two new beers arriving at my door in recent days. There’s Tip Jar, a New World lager brewed to raise money for hospitality workers in need via a v enture launched by the Worksmith team, which you can read more about here. Essentially, it’s a classic German Helles, with a lean, slightly bready and crisp body upon which Ekuanot and Motueka provide a mix of papaya, mango and lime.
Then there’s Tiny Piney, a lighter take on the brewery’s superbly named Piney Dancer IPA, a collaboration first brewed with Heartbreaker and featuring pineapple juice. Tiny Piney comes in with a low ABV of 3.8 percent but the lightness on the booze front doesn’t stop it holding you close with a soft mouthfeel, a big hit of pineapple and some rockmelon too.
