I quaffed Urban Bohemia from Six String after a 10km trail run and it was a perfect post-run rehydration pilsner that didn't touch the sides and will most certainly be stocked in the fridge come next summer. The crew call it a beer that's reminiscent of 90s music festivals with their epic lineups; however, it could clearly become a favourite of the ultra-marathon running set. A traditional pilsner brewed with a long lagering period in the Bohemian style while showcasing German malts, it’s certainly crisp and refreshing, with a lovely light golden colour, clear, hop-forward aromas, and earthy flavours with touches of spice courtesy of noble hop variety Saaz. Stick a six-pack in the fridge and go and get fit: it will be worth it in more ways than one!
As for Wet Wet Wet Hop Pale Ale, it’s not a tribute to the band from Scotland, but a pale ale featuring Chinook and Centennial hops fresh from the bines of Ryefield Hops. The brewers made the trip down to Benboka in Southern NSW, to help harvest said hops, dashing back up to the Central Coast to put them straight into a brew. The hops present as grassy in aroma, all citrusy to taste, with a subtle hint of caramel from the malt bill. Love is all around when this is poured, that’s for sure.
