It’s all about the hops for Beerfarm’s NEIPA, showcasing the playful Superdelic hop variety in a fruity number they claim will "transport you to another dimension" although, at time of writing, this writer remains still firmly seated within this one.
Dimensions aside, this NEIPA has plenty going for it. Superdelic lends itself nicely to the NEIPA style, where a soft mouthfeel carries sweet candy notes – red frogs, snakes alive and jubes come to mind – alongside overripe nectarine, orange, mandarin and some gentle earthy pine. As is the way with hoppier leaning beers, bitterness lingers on the palate but is softened here thanks to a creamy mouthfeel from the use of oats and wheat in the mash.
NEIPAs should be a simple pleasure, in which hops are front and centre without being offensive. Here, Beerfarm celebrate a variety well suited to the velvety style, allowing candy and overripe fruit to complement the softness and ease of drinking.
