For this writer, Beerfarm’s Native Series always registers as a highlight among the many limited release beers brewed across WA’s South West. Each reiteration takes an entirely different approach that utilises and celebrates native Australian ingredients while helping to support Indigenous communities. Their tenth collab is brewed with Gubinge, or Kakadu plum, using fruit from Bindam Mie, an organisation that creates employment opportunities for young Indigenous workers who help process native ingredients in Broome.
Within the tin lies a beer that showcases the Gubinge fruit and a considerable level of refreshment. At 4.2 percent ABV, it's approachable with a modest sourness, bold, lime like acidity, and sherbet notes, with a spritzy carbonation and fine, tight bubbles which enhance that sherbert like profile further. A thin body and light mouthfeel refresh the palate after each sip, with cape gooseberry richness coming through alongside nashi pear and white wine notes, before the gose finishes clean with a faint salinity.
Beerfarm’s limited releases rarely miss, and the Native Series regularly intrigues and impresses. This instalment is no different: a unique take on the typically mild-mannered gose style.
