They say seven is a a lucky number but Ocean Reach are showing it might not be all fairytales, with their goulish birthday beer; Lucky 7 is an oat cream IPA with its own mystical beast with seven legs, eyes horns and fingers. That creature sure might have been dreamt up in the dark recesses of the human mind but the beer is familiar territory for the brewery who tend to run by the idea that if you're not releasing a new IPA this week, you probably should next week. Pouring increadly slick and a pale golden yellow, Lucky 7 is lush, creamy and filled with pine, mandarin and pineapple, which all suggest that looks can be deceiving and there’s no need to fear the beast.
Also fresh from the brewery is Shades On, a pineapple and orange sour. Here, the pineapple and tartness blend seamlessly to come across like a fresh bit of fruit you maybe should have sat on for another day but still tastes great. The citrus meanwhile is more like an orange lolly and brings a lighter note and bit of confectionary sweetness to the sour summer refresher.
