Ocean Reach haven’t let a cold winter on the coast dampen their spirits, with the Phillip Island brewery, keeping things cheery with two 6.5 percent winter warmers. Starting things off with a combination that might start your day, Up & Oats Brekky Stout. The beer uses a heavy dose of oats to give it a silky mouthfeel, while the coffee leads the beer's aroma and leans heavily towards the roasted side. But let the beer warm up and there are further touches of raisins and other dried fruits that blend together with bitter dark chocolate.
From a morning ritual to the quippiest leading man in action movies (if you forget about Harrison Ford and the last decade of Marvel movies), Ocean Reach draw inspiration from 2010’s Red. The action comedy saw Bruce Willis star as Frank Moses, a former CIA agent (Retired. Extremely. Dangerous) who does what Moses (or Willis), does best, take on a bunch of baddies with increasingly dramatic firepower. Here, Frank Moses has been reimagined as a red rye IPA and it’s one that’s heavy on the classic American hop notes of pine and resin, with a touch of spice too. Pouring deep red to the point of near-brown, Frank also brings a sweeter side of caramel and toffee with a big bitter follow-through.
