The Paul’s milk factory has been standing tall on Montague Road in West End since the 1930s. Kind of weird for big tanks full of moo juice to be a Brisbane icon but, hey, people can get attached to anything if it hangs around long enough.
Inspired by this historical landmark, Brisbane Brewing Co roll out Montague Milk Stout as a sessionable sipper for Brisbanites in the cooler months.
While it’s an easy-drinking 4.6 percent ABV, Montague’s flavours are quite rich: plenty of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, a touch of bitterness, and a restrained addition of lactose bringing a balancing sweetness and smoothness to the body. Think triple-shot cappuccino with one sugar and you won’t be far off.
