Deca-Gone sees the Northbridge Brewing Co team celebrate a decade of brewing. They've done so with a double IPA created with input from all of the Perth brewpub's current and former brewers, including WA brewing icon Ken Arrowsmith and senior brewer Andrew Dean. Even the original venue manager, Conal Brett, joined in after recently rejoining team. Each participant was tasked with selecting a favourite hop to added to the beer – a suitably large one at that.
As such, Centennial, Simcoe, Riwaka, Mosaic and Cascade weave together old and new across a caramel malt base that recalls the brewery's debut IPA from a decade ago. Peachy stonefruit leads aromatically with white peach in support, both of which continue in the glass. Firm bitterness and resin push forward insistently, growing in presence with each sip.
