Common People use their beers to tell stories of their region, and this one is named after a local waterfall with a spirit of resistance: “the stunning Protesters Falls are so named as a group of locals lobbied in 1979 against a large area of state forest being logged. The protest is regarded as a watershed moment in Australia's environmental movement and cited as the first time people physically defended a natural resource.”
This West Coast IPA shows US and Aussie hops standing together shoulder to shoulder, bringing plenty of citrus and resin bite right from the beginning. The malt backbone holds its ground, digging its heels in with back palate weightiness and linking arms with sweet toffee that ties in with the hoppiness. There’s enough bitterness to fight back and balance the scales, but don’t worry – it’s not starting a riot.
