A bike trail following the old train tracks from Murwillumbah to Casino… wouldn’t that be a wonderful way to explore the natural beauty of the Northern Rivers? That’s the vision of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. There are already long stretches completed at both end, but it still needs the middle part around Byron filled in. The folk at Common People are in there talking with council, pushing for this trail to hurry up and be built - and they made this beer to shout about it.
To begin with, Rail Trail Hazy Pale is more than hazy – I mixed pineapple juice and milk once,* and it looked like this beer. It then kicks off with huge fruit aroma, and the flavours within trail along with spice, zest and mango sweetness.
With big flavour but low alcohol, it’s designed to be just right for a mid-ride beer. The idea is you could stop in at Common People on your way along the trail - it’s proposed to go right past the brewery, as the old train tracks do - and have a pizza and Rail Trail Hazy Pale, then jump on your bike and continue on your way. Probably with a 4-pack stashed away in your bag.
