If you ever hear someone say they don't like wheat beers, they're probably thinking of a big German hefe, and they probably find it too heavy for them - either in alcohol, or flavour, or both.
That's not what this beer is. Common People wanted a wheat beer, but they wanted something light and refreshing for a day at the beach. They've gone with more of a Belgian witbier, which pours yellow with a natural haze, and offers up gentle sweet spice and a cushiony soft banana.
Now don't get me wrong, this beer would indeed be great out in the sun, and northern NSW has some damn fine beaches. But to me, this is a beer just begging to go with pizza. When people talk about the love affair between beer and pizza, they almost always talking about lagers, but I’m a strong advocate for witbier as the best pairing. Sink a Back Beach with a wood fired pizza at Common People, and you’ll agree with me before you reach the smokey crust of your first slice.
