Boston Brewing keep the hits coming with another killer limited release. While this Crafty Pint writer is struggling to think of a beer from the Denmark brewers that's been anything less than a hit over the past year, Hazy IPA in particular impresses with its spot on modern US hop profile.
Pouring with a bright, orange hue, firm haze and an off-white head, juicy melon and stone fruit aromas dominate up front with sweet citrus and pineapple following. To taste, orange sherbet and tangerine present atop a soft, rounded and creamy mouthfeel, through which slight citric acidity and further rockmelon, stone fruit and papaya make an appearance. Hoppy, fruit salad notes linger heavily after each sip with a balance of bitter and sweet tying the whole thing together.
Hazy IPA's 6.5 percent ABV is barely noticeable among those bright hop notes conjured from Trident (in Salvo pourable form) and Idaho 7. While Boston have been dropping high calibre beers throughout the calendar year, a rock solid hazy IPA just as peak beer-drinking weather kicks in is always very welcome.
