This year sees Northbridge Brewing Co’s annual festival of burning pepper heat, Chilli Week, expand to include its sister venue, the Whitfords Brewing Co. And, to mark the return of this scovillicoius occasion, Beerland Brewing has marked the occasion with a fiery take on their core range West Coast IPA.
Known for their citrusy flavour, the habanero chilli addition - 100 grams per 50 litre keg - makes its presence known from the first sniff. While this should be a warning, the chilli complements the Mosaic and Galaxy hops, bringing a new fruity dynamic to the beer. Although the initial heat subsides a little through tasting, it lingers enough past the mouthful to warrant more sips.
