Hot off the heels of not one but two Single Series IPAs from the Eagle Bay crew comes a lager ready to fill the void between summer sour crushing and winter warmer sipping. A dark lager, to be exact, loaded with brooding, rich malts and noble hops.
An expansive malt bill and lengthy lagering process give this biscuity lager plenty of robust character. Chocolate malt, roasted wheat and Aurora malt add complexities in the form of dusty chocolate, sweet biscuits and light caramel, which are apparent on both nose and palate. The noble hops contribute a poised 26 IBU, along with gentle grassiness, citrus peel and a subtle spice that pairs perfectly with the malt driven flavours. Everything is rounded out nicely with a clean, slightly viscous finish.
Eagle Bay Brewery are fond of brewing the classics right, with many good examples of well-founded styles within their back catalogue; this dark lager slots right in there with the best of them and craft beer drinkers would be smart to slot a few of this Single Series release into the fridge before it's gone.
