It’s not all that often you get a beer that you wished didn’t need to be brewed. That’s not to say anything about the liquid inside The Freedom Fighter but there's a brutal reality to brewing an anti-war beer a year and a half after Russia invaded Ukraine. There are some positives to the beer though, with CoConspirators Brewing having teamed up with Ukraine’s 2085 Brewery and Adelaide's Beer & BBQ Fest to brew a beer representing the comradery of the beer industry and there's no prizes for working out who's on the front of the can.
The chosen style was a kellerbier made with Simcoe hops which brings quite a touch of stonefruit, floral, citrus and earthy notes. Pouring golden yellow with a light haze, the lager also provides dry crackers and bread and better yet, profits from the beer's sales are going to the Global Empowerment Mission - Slava Ukraini!
