Fruited sours tend to start appearing as summer approaches but The Mill Brewery have defied convention in brewing Winter Sour. The beer started out with the brewery’s standard sour base before some 60 kilograms of boysenberries and 30 kilos of blueberries were thrown in to match the remaining cold weather.
Pouring with a crimson-lined dark purple hue, the sour serves up a ripple of dark berry flavours that come across like they’ve just been ripped from a cake. The sourness is an underlying element rather than anything in your face and brings a whole lot of juiciness alongside its tartness.
