Do you say neck-truhn or neck-ta-reen? I’m a three syllable man myself, but I have to be sensitive to the two-syllable folk because my wife is one. That doesn’t mean I’m happy about it, though.
Reckless Brewing’s Double Nectarine Sour is fruity and fun, with a more complex fermentation profile than the clean and simple kettle sours out there. It begins almost as a sherbetty saison, with a touch of farmhouse character making you feel like you’re stepping into the orchard itself. The fruit it all around you as you raise this beer to your lips: a sizzle of stonefruit sorbet and the hearty pong of overripe nectarine, all given a leg-up with a restrained use of lactose. Meanwhile the sourness is quite soft, washing in and leveling out and sitting in your mouth like tangy frozen yoghurt.
It’s summery. With three syllables.
