There’s nothing reckless about a finely-tuned lager and despite their name, Reckless Brewing, have brought plenty of finesse to this autumn seasonal. Schwarzbier is the brewery’s take on the classic German dark lager that was made with malt out of Europe and noble hops from their home state.
There's a lot to be said for a beer that can simultaneously refresh and make you feel a little bit more cosy and that's exactly what Reckless achieve here. There's a warming blend of cocoo, roasted coffee and a slight pretzel-style sweetness which are the drinking equivalent of slipping on your Ugg boots for the first time for the year. Meanwhile, in refreshment's corner is a dry and lean finish and complementary crisp edge which is a little more like taking your shoes off at the end of a long summer's day.
