This isn’t the first time Reckless have brought out a sink-it-down easy drinker and a soak-it-up fruity number in close succession. And considering their fans and their love of flavour, I can’t imagine it’ll be the last.
Bathurst is known for things that go fast: supercars. But it’s also a regional city, which means things can move slowly sometimes. And when things are moving slowly, it’s good to have a beer that goes down fast.
Bathurst Bullet is a refreshing ale in name and in character. It’s pale, it’s light-bodied, it carries gentle fruit notes from the hops and the yeast esters… but mostly it’s here for a good time, not a long time. What else is there to say?* It’s named for the Bathurst to Sydney train, and the name suits: Bathurst Bullet will keep you on track.
When we get to Hazy Pine Orange XPA, this beer ticks all of its own boxes.
You want extra pale? It’s extra pale. You want hazy? It’s hazy. You want pineapple? It’s got pineapple. You want orange? It’s got orange.
More specifically, there’s lovely pineapple and orange juice on the nose, and it floats on a soft wheat-filled body into the mouth. There’s also some pine (pine, not pineapple) flavour kicking on in there. But it all goes down pretty easily, too.
