Bodriggy Brewing might be known for their cosmic cans but a special beer is as good a reason as any to introduce a bit of glass and wax. Apollo 12 is the brewery’s first ever barrel-aged beer release with the imperial stout having spent 11 months soaking away in oak that once housed Australian whisky.
This beer represents the start of the Bodriggy's barrel series and it's launch follows a long-held dream from production whizz, James Graham, whose always wanted to throw some caution to the wind and introduce oak to the brewery. Pouring jet black with a tanned head, Apollo takes off with araomas of figs, blackberry and dark chocolate and as it warms up and comes in for landing, we found sweeter sides of vanilla and burnt sugar that are seamlessly balanced by roasted coffee and aniseed.
