There’s something very exciting about seeing a pro doing what they’re best at. Kendrick Lamar dropping a verse, Nathan Cleary kicking from his own half (or Buddy Franklin for southerners) and Sauce releasing a peach-infused beer. Here’s hoping Peaches & Oat Cream IPA can fill the Peach Sauce hole that’s been in my life since the Marrickville hop lovers updated their core range.
Once freed from the creamy peachy can art that would get you banned from emoji privileges, Peaches & Oat Cream IPA pours the pale yellow of an overripe lemon, albeit with a bit of haze. Aromas are Easter Show sweet: sherbert, musk sticks, coconut, a little of the aforementioned peach and a wink of hops. You can sip the air around your glass and get a good taste of this beer.
As a beer writer, I often describe beers as having stone fruit notes but never has the taste of peach been in such a scrumptious, velvety limelight as it is here. This is a fruity beer that tastes as if it’s already been poured over ice cream, still managing to finish strong as sweet turns to bitter with a gentle sting and hum from the 6 percent ABV. Sip this over an evening as your dessert or pair it with some sweets – I’ve got a hunch it will taste nice next to some peaches and cream lollies.
