The McLaren Vale region is incredibly special: one minute you could be sipping wines and beers among the vines; the next, you're catching waves at a beach a short drive away … or the other way around. The Swell team believe there are similarities with Hawke’s Bay, on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, an area known for its great waves nestled within a wine region that the brewery team believes is underrated. And what better way to show their appreciation for vineyards and surf than with a beer in honour of their home region's Kiwi twin?
They've done the region proud too: Hawke's Bay IPA could possibily be their best hazy yet, a grand showcase of New Zealand hop varieties Wai-iti, Riwaka, Motueka and Waimea. It all begins with the body, one that supports the hops with a soft and fluffy mouthfeel. The depth of the hops shines through with elements of melon, juicy mango, lime, a touch of coconut and even a little bubblegum on the back palate. A little sweetness intertwines throughout while bitterness is mild, bringing it all together.
