Colonial Brewing Hazy IPA

CBCo Port Melbourne

Published April 9, 2021

In a few short years, hazy IPAs have gone from being a rarity to a fixture in the Australian beer landscape, with some breweries devoting most of their brew schedule to them and others regularly rebrewing them or exploring different recipes. Colonial Brewing's Hazy IPA is one such beer that keeps coming back, first brewed at Colonial's Port Melbourne home in late 2019 (which is why it features Port Melbourne Football Club's home of The Borough on the can) then returning each year since with slight tweaks along the way.

It shouldn't be surprising either, given how finessed and dialled in this beer is: Hazy IPA provides a lush and soft mouthfeel while still finishing a little dry and with just a hint of bitterness. Featuring an all-American hop lineup of Mosaic, El Dorado, Idaho 7, it's a beer that serves up peach, rockmelon, pine alongside the slightly sweet combination of pawpaw and guava.
