As inspirations for beers go, this is something of a longbow – the Ocean Reach team opting for a play on words to the Ginuwine track Pony plus a hop riding a pony on the labels. As they explain, it's "a subtle reminder not to take things too seriously – even when it comes to drinking beer."
The beer itself is the latest in a stream of hazy IPAs and NEIPAs from the Phillip Island crew, one that puts Aussie hop Vic Secret front and centre. Looks wise, this is properly turbid peach juice in your glass, with stone fruit and pineapple aromas and flavours leading the way and a pretty full and soft mouthfeel. That said, there's a building bitterness with a little grip at play too – albeit not as aggressive as Vic Secret can be – with the result the best hazy I’ve had from Ocean Reach to date.
