Tallboy & Moose have returned to a few cult classics for winter 2022, including their first-ever proper can release. OK, it seems a little weird to call an oat cream IPA that features grapefruit a “classic” but after having already found a following for Pillow Fight at their taproom, it was the beer chosen to launch their proper cans following years of filling CANimals. That grapefruit is straight out the gate too with its unmistakable citrus tang bringing to mind one of America's craft beer greats in Grapefruit Sculpin. The hops have been somewhat tweaked since the very first release and here combination of Sabro, Azacca and Galaxy hops bring a touch of tropical fruits, some coconut and given the beer's slightly sweet edge and smoothness, you can't help but feel like it's Sculpin made modern.
Also returning after a fair absence is Tallboy & Moose’s red IPA with Early Grey, Royal Fang. Like many red IPA, there’s a deep ruby colour, toffee and sweet raisin flavour that shares the stage with hop-led pine needles and resin. The point of difference here though is the unmistakable taste of bergamot which adds its distinct citrus flavour, its fragrance and a tannic, drying quality to the otherwise rich beer.
