Sabbath returns as arguably Otherside’s most anticipated Creative Series release of the year. Each year, the cool weather offering allows the brewers a chance to explore the pastry stout realm, which they wisely do at a fairly moderate for style ABV – and seemingly months ahead of anyone else in WA.
While the concept is one of exploration, this year sees them return to past themes of vanilla, caramel and hazelnut. So much so, in fact, that it’s as if the Myaree crew have stuffed the fermenters with Fantales, Nutella and vanilla creme, smirking at the delicious absurdity of it!
Beyond the sweet nostalgia, there’s a smooth chocolate malt base and just enough dry / bitter closure to warrant another sip into giddy confection. Then another. And another, with each repeat causing your smile to widen a little more.
