In what's at least in part a sign of the times, the first months of 2023 have seen a few brewers add what you might want to call "fridge-fillers" to their core offering: beers for those on a budget, or perhaps those seeking something akin to what was referred to in a past era as "beer" but from an indie outfit. It's a space in which Otherside have previous, pushing out Plan C in the early weeks of the COVID pandemic.
With Classic, they're picking up on the crisp aspirations of their now-defunct Social, which was a helles style lager. They've ditched the German nuance, however, in favour of a straight-ahead Aussie pub pour. As honest as it comes, light straw-hued, with a touch of sweet malt, a breath of bitterness and a dry finish doing most of the work, Classic’s economic styling is perfectly eponymous.
To hell(es) with details, let’s get social!
