It’s not as if Otherside ever need a reason to add to their litany of limited releases; that said, celebrating their 500th brew feels like the sort of milestone that can't be ignored. And, when it happens to dovetail neatly into the Myaree brewhouse’s fifth birthday too, well, there’s no party like an Otherside party, especially one that eschews cake for a triple West Coast IPA.
As the team put it: “We couldn’t resist doing a big dumb IPA.”
And that statement takes shape in the glass as a beer almost wilfully jammed with classic 4 C hops (American varieties Cascade, Centennial, Columbus and Chinook) which deliver all manner of citrus notes and supportive pine. A little Nelson Hop Kief from New Zealand adds modern dynamism across Otherside’s signature juicy mid-palate before bitterness lingers longer than the feeling of finding out you were left off the guest list. Indeed, you might be more upset if it wasn’t so damn drinkable.
Congratulations on the milestone – here's to the next 500!
