So, once again, it turns out we can't count as we've added thirteen more listings to the directory side of the site since our last roundup. Ah well, the beer world is expanding fast...
As with all of our Crafty Dozen articles, the purpose is to bring together the most recent 12 new brewery, venue and business listings added to the site in case you missed them first time around. For this one, you'll find regional brewpubs, barrel-ageing specialists, bottleshops, BBQ smokers, boot suppliers and more.
As well as adding their stories to the directory on the main site, it means you can now find detailed entries for them and hundreds more in the free Crafty app, designed to help beer lovers find good beer when you're out and about.
The Hop Supply Co (VIC) – Having fallen for beer at The Cambrian, Bendigo beer lovers Kylee and Scott Toll found themselves making rather a lot of supply runs to Melbourne. So they did the sensible thing and opened a damn fine bottleshop to stop them – and the city's fellow beer fans – having to hit the road.
The Welder's Dog (NSW) – It was a desire to find a ginger beer to sate the desires of locals at their New England bars that set The Welder's Dog crew on the path to brewing. Now it's become a serious endeavour, mixing stylistically tight ales with quirky releases like their pink Pea Blossom Lemonade.
Bogs Footwear (VIC) – Originating in Portland, Oregon, but operating in Australia for a few years now, Bogs have got their eyes trained on the local brewing and hospo world with their range of boots. Look out for regular competitions to win pairs via Crafty socials too.
Vale Brewing & Fox Hat (SA) – We welcomed the sibling brands from South Australia back onto the site on the back of new additions to their respective lineups, with Vale adding the Tropic Ale to their range and Fox Hat opting for the Heavy Handed XPA.
Up In Smoke (VIC) – If you like your meat low 'n' slow and your beers local and crafty, Footscray's Up In Smoke have you covered. They've got plenty of options in both camps and also host monthly feasts showcasing their favourite breweries.
Atomic Beer Project (NSW) – It started out as a pale ale within the Gage Roads lineup but, following the creation of the Good Drinks family of brands, Atomic has become the launchpad for an entire brand of hop forward beers. And it will have a brewery home in Redfern early in 2020 too.
Deeds Brewing (VIC) – Originally operating as a contract brewer going by the Quiet Deeds name, since opening (after a truly painful and lengthy process) the duo behind the operation changed the name to Deeds Brewing, allowing Quiet to be joined by Dark Deeds, and have set about releasing heaps of colourful beers.
Eumundi Brewery (QLD) – Lion brought brewing back to the historic Eumundi Hotel, creating a new version of Eumundi Lager and a growing range of approachable releases, while adding to the remarkable brewing renaissance sweeping the Sunshine Coast region.
Black Arts (VIC) – They bonded instantly over a love of sour beer styles and, while it took rather longer to move from that initial conversation to the release of their first barrel-aged and blended beers, the Williamstown-based duo have won over plenty of fans in no time at all.
Growler Depot (WA) – As more focus is put on beer quality and more beers demand being kept cold from packaging to consumption, a solid cold chain supply is ever more important. And that's what Growler Depot are offering brewers supplying the Perth market.
Future Mountain (VIC) – Ian and Shane met while brewing together at Boatrocker and hatched a plan to create their own brewery. Opening earlier in 2019, their barrel-lined Reservoir brewpub is a classy affair, as are their beers, while range from authentic pilsners to fruit sours and much more besides.
