Rocky Ridge’s staff beer series is all about celebrating the beer ideas pouring forth from the minds of their loyal employees, not matter how wacky they might be. As the brewery grows, so does their cohort of trusty workers and, as such, so doe the staff beers. Past releases have included a banana and chocolate porter, a botanical IPA and a French martini sour – and now the reins have been handed to TapHouse manager Kieran.
His desire was to create a hazy IIPA inspired by a young Kieran's declarations to his mother when he was overwhelmed with frustration that he as "seeing purple". This has been translated in beer form as something with big tropical character: pineapple, stonefruit, pear and passionfruit in abundance courtesy of El Dorado and Galaxy hops. Add in subtleties of pine, watermelon and bright lemon, plus chit malt, wheat and oats providing the slick, velvety body, steady haze, and enough body to carry the hop character into a long finish and Kieran might have instead found his purple patch.
