It’s been another busy month for the Rocky Ridge brewers, releasing six fresh beers. As winter approaches, a couple of darker offerings feature alongside a duo of fresh hop beers courtesy of the South West’s hop harvest. It’s not just fresh hops, though, with a couple of extra hoppy numbers to round out the half-doz.
Starting heavy, Double No Ordinary Bunny is a chocolate stout landing at 11 percent ABV and featuring eight different types of chocolate added throughout the brewing process. Over the top? Yes, but luscious and warming, nonetheless. While on the topic, M is For Milk Stout is a more subdued adjunct stout that’s still full in flavour, offering a more classic lactose-laden stout profile.
Moving into hop territory and the recent hop harvest gives us Double Wet Spice: an updated take on a previous fresh hop red IPA, while Jindong Gold is a newer interpretation, brewed with Mortlock Malt from Karranadgin and fresh wet hops from South West Hops in Bridgetown. It’s all about local here with the outcome an abundance of zesty and earthy character from fresh Vienna Gold hops.
Big Dank Resin is pretty well summed up by its name, a classic West Coast double IPA loaded with resin and pine along with citrus and nectarine, all atop a generous malty body and bold 8.5 percent ABV. Hops Don’t Lie is more haze-inclined with a light body, bolstered bitterness and big notes of peach, kiwi, pine, orange.
Releasing six new beers in a month is no easy feat, but Rocky Ridge have proved themselves more than capable yet again.
