Having spotted they had a new beer out, we chased Margs' Cheeky Monkey for info. They replied in an instant like the troopers they are. And then we totally forgot to actually do anything about it. However, despite it being launched during the brewery's busiest period of the year we're hoping there's still some around.
The latest in their ever-evolving Southern Wailer seasonal series is a Cherry Saison. It's been brewed with fresh pitted cherries from nearby Manjimup that were added to the farmhouse style ale during ferment. Head brewer Ross Terlick says he's "pretty happy with how this one turned out" and tells us that "punters have been loving it" (so maybe it will all be gone by the time you read this....).
Anyway, if you do hunt some down, he says the deep red drop is "funky" with tropical fruit flavours and a delicate dry finish that "gives way to cherries late on the palate".
