Two fruit-flavoured IPAs and a great pretender of a collab are the latest releases out of Tallboy & Moose’s Preston home. The former include Citrus Got Real (5.9%), an IPA brewed with the citrus-forward mix of Citra, Lemon Drop and Motueka hops and a “backyard tree” worth of lemons. The orange haze is a sign of those flavours lurking within, where juicy orange and lemon sherbet push against a smooth beer with a gentle bitterness.
By comparison, Nectarine of the Gods is an IPA focused on a different, more worm farm-friendly fruit. The stone fruit flavours are dialled right up: mostly it’s nectarine but there’s also peach that comes across all schnapps-like and a little pine in there too.
Brewed during Good Beer Week with the Sunshine Coast’s Brouhaha, Imposter Importer is something of a confusing dark beer. There’s roast flavours in there but, for the most, this is driven by a fruity blackcurrant and bubblegum mixture derived from the yeast, wrapped up with a light dry finish.
